c406-1hm
Artex C406-1HM Helicopter ELT Main Assembly

Artex C406-1HM is the helicopter version of the C406-1 automatic fixed (AF) emergency locator transmitter and transmits on 121.5, 243.0 and 406 MHz. After activation, the 406 MHz transmitter sends a coded digital message to the Cospas-Sarsat system every 50 seconds for 24 hours; the 121.5/243.0 MHz homing signal continues for at least 50 hours. Shop P/N 453-5003 is the C406-1HM main assembly (ELT only, 1.43 kg).

In addition to the 2.3 g primary crash sensor, the C406-1HM has a five-axis G-switch module that activates the ELT in any of the six orthogonal axes. All three frequencies use one BNC output and one coax cable to a single-input antenna. The five-year LiMnO2 battery pack (452-0133) is part of the main assembly and also powers the buzzer.

Artex lists the mounting frame (tray 452-5050, protective top cover 452-3052, cap 452-5052), installation kit, cockpit remote switch, buzzer, antenna and coax cable as separate P/Ns; they are not part of P/N 453-5003. The C406-1HM holds FAA TSO-C126, JTSO-2C126 and EASA ETSO authorisation EASA.IM.21O.10039656. The ETSO authorisation is not an installation approval: a helicopter registered in an EASA state needs approved installation data for the type and a release to service after installation. Fit depends on the helicopter type. An order needs the state of registry and the registration or 24-bit address for coding.
