The scale carries an asterisk at 4\/5 scale as the reference mark for peak EGT; the indicator is temperature-compensated for readings on the ground and at altitude, needs no aircraft electrical power and weighs 0.2 lb (91 g).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe indicator works only with Alcor EGT probes and leads in the red\/yellow colour code; red\/brown systems are not compatible. It is calibrated for 90 in Type K leads (Alcor P\/N 42525); another lead length needs recalibration with an ALCAL tester or in flight. In-flight calibration sets peak EGT at the asterisk at 65 % cruise power with the supplied screwdriver. An Alcor rotary switch (P\/N 80825) can extend it to up to six cylinders and a turbocharger.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe indicator mounts in a 2¼ in panel hole with the supplied hardware. Alcor holds FAA-PMA and US STC SA522SW for piston-engine aircraft; this is not an EASA approval. On EASA-registered aircraft, the installation is an approved modification followed by release to service (CRS).
