elt-4000
Artex ELT 4000 ELT with Battery

Artex ELT 4000 is an automatic fixed (AF) emergency locator transmitter for 121.5 and 406 MHz with an alkaline battery pack. After activation, the 406 MHz transmitter sends a coded message to Cospas-Sarsat every 50 seconds for 24 hours; the 121.5 MHz homing signal lasts at least 50 hours. P/N 8260 is the beacon with battery, supplied as the main assembly A3-06-3005 with the instruction sheet.

A 2.3 g G-switch activates the ELT automatically; manual activation is possible on the unit or from a cockpit remote switch. An integrated ARINC 429 receiver adds the aircraft position to the 406 MHz message and improves location accuracy from typically 3 km to about 100 m.

Mounting tray, covers, installation kit, buzzer, antenna, coax cable and remote switch are not included; they come in base pack 8261 and in packs 8262 and 8263 with rod or blade antenna. The ELT 4000 holds FAA TSO-C126b and is accepted as ETSO-2C126a under the FAA–EASA bilateral agreement. This is not an installation approval: an aircraft registered in an EASA state needs approved installation data for the type and a release to service after installation. Fit depends on the aircraft type, the installed tray, antenna and remote switch and the ARINC 429 navigation source. An order needs the state of registry and the registration or 24-bit address for coding.
