Its LED-backlit display, equivalent to a 4-inch screen, combines the HSI with a full-colour moving map of the GPS or FMS flight plan, VOR and ADF bearing pointers, DME readout, marker beacons and WX-500 Stormscope data, using an internal Jeppesen navigation database.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHeading comes from a stepper-drive or ARINC 407 synchro directional gyro with flux gate, or from an ARINC 429 AHRS. GPS roll steering to the autopilot is standard on new units. Traffic display (TAS, TCAD, TCAS I\/II, ADS-B In), datalink weather, TACAN and a reversionary attitude display are enabled by key code; with TCAS II the SN3500 is a secondary traffic display only. SN3500-002 is the standard unit with a black bezel, SN3500-004 the high-vibration version for helicopters, also with a black bezel; neither has NVIS.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe unit mounts with a clamp in a standard 3-ATI cut-out, needs 249 mm behind the panel and runs on 11–33 V DC. A certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. The SN3500 holds ETSO-C113; FAA STC SA01815LA (Cessna 421) is not automatic EASA approval.
