It combines tailBeaconX, a Mode S transponder with 1090ES ADS-B Out and an internal SBAS\/WAAS GPS integrated into an LED rear position light, with the AV-30-E, a 3 in multi-mode instrument for a 3⅛ in panel hole that serves as its control head. tailBeaconX transmits 250 W and is authorised to TSO-C112e (Level 2els, Class 1), TSO-C166b, TSO-C145e and TSO-C30c.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etailBeaconX replaces the rear position light and needs no separate transponder or GPS antenna; it runs on 9–30.3 V DC and is configured on the ground over Wi-Fi with the uAvionix app. The AV-30-E sends pressure altitude, mode, squawk and IDENT to the transponder and displays its status. As an instrument it can be configured as an attitude indicator, a directional gyro or a multi-function display, with its own inertial and pressure sensors. Its internal battery runs the display for about 1 hour at 20 °C; the transponder is not powered by this battery.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etailBeaconX does not replace a rotating anti-collision beacon, needs a clear view of the sky and is not intended for aircraft with SatCom. For certified aircraft, uAvionix offers tailBeaconX TSO with the AV-30-C under EASA STC 10079395.
