Which terminal does each wire go to?

Per the ACS installation drawing: right magneto lead to terminal 1, left magneto lead to terminal 2, battery positive to terminal 3, starter solenoid to terminal 4, and the centre terminal 5 to the nearest structural member. Each magneto has its own terminal. ACS calls for shielded wire on all connections, with the shields grounded to the nearest structural member.

When is the jumper on terminal 1 used?

When the left magneto has an impulse coupling, or when it is a retard-breaker magneto. With a retard-breaker magneto and a two-terminal starting vibrator, the LR and BO terminals are wired as well, as shown in the second ACS wiring diagram. With a plain left magneto the jumper is left off.

Does the switch need a ground wire to the airframe?

Yes. The centre terminal 5 is the switch ground and is wired to the nearest structural member. The shields of all wires are grounded to the nearest structural member as well. The ACS diagram also shows a surge suppressor diode across the starter solenoid.

Which aircraft is the A-510-2 approved for?

ACS documents it as a replacement for Cessna ignition switch C292501 on listed Cessna models (150/152, 172, 177, 180H, 182, 185, 206, 207, 210) and Reims F150, F152 and F172, each within serial ranges. Other types, such as Piper, are not on the list and need separately approved data and a release to service. To check a specific aircraft, AIR TEAM needs the type and serial number.
