It is a passive over-the-head headset with around-the-ear domes, NRR 23 dB, an M-7A electret noise-cancelling microphone and a straight cord of about 5 ft with GA dual plugs. David Clark lists FAA TSO-C57b and TSO-C58a and states that the headset exceeds RTCA/DO-214.

  • Passive over-the-head headset with around-the-ear domes and a certified Noise Reduction Rating of 23 dB.

  • The M-7A amplified electret microphone is mounted on a universal flex boom and runs on an 8–16 V DC supply, not polarity sensitive.

  • A straight cord of about 5 ft (1.5 m) ends in GA dual plugs: PJ-055 for the earphones and PJ-068 for the microphone.

  • Weight without the cord assembly is about 16.5 oz.

Head pad, ear seals and boom

Head pad, ear seals and boom

The headset has an expanded double foam head pad, undercut Comfort Gel ear seals on ABS domes with steel hardware, a universal flex boom for the microphone and a low-profile volume control knob with detent settings. The cord assembly is molded.

Ear coupling is around-the-ear. Weight without the cord assembly is about 16.5 oz.

Noise reduction and attenuation

David Clark certifies a Noise Reduction Rating of 23 dB. Published attenuation by frequency: 16.6 dB at 125 Hz, 20.7 dB at 250 Hz, 27.4 dB at 500 Hz, 33.0 dB at 1 kHz, 30.5 dB at 2 kHz, 36.2 dB at 3 kHz, 38.1 dB at 4 kHz, 36.6 dB at 6 kHz and 36.6 dB at 8 kHz.

The earcups are passive. Noise cancelling refers to the M-7A microphone, not to the earphones.

Microphone and earphones

The M-7A is an amplified electret microphone. Impedance is 50 Ω ±20 %, sensitivity 400 mV ±6 dB into a 150 Ω load at 1 kHz for 114 dB SPL input, and response 300 Hz–3.5 kHz per RTCA DO-214. The DC supply is 8–16 V, not polarity sensitive, with a source resistance of 470 Ω.

The dynamic earphones have 150 Ω impedance (300 Ω each, wired in parallel), a response of 200–5,500 Hz and 90 dB SPL sensitivity at 1 mW and 1 kHz.

Cord and plugs

The straight cord is about 5 ft (1.5 m) long. The earphone plug is a PJ-055 (0.25 in phone plug) and the microphone plug a PJ-068 (0.206 in phone plug). Together they form the GA dual plug used on fixed-wing aircraft.

The helicopter configuration H10-13H (40411G-02) has a 5 ft extended coil cord and a single plug. H10-13N (40411G-12) is terminated with a NATO-type plug.

Configurations and what this product is

David Clark lists five H10-13 configurations: H10-13.4 standard mono with straight cord and dual plugs (40411G-01); H10-13S stereo with inline stereo/mono switch (40422G-01); H10-13H for helicopters (40411G-02); H10-13Y, a small version for younger pilots that can be upgraded to the full-size headset (40411G-04); and H10-13N with NATO-type plug (40411G-12).

This product is the 40411G-01 version. The other configurations carry their own part numbers.

Approval

David Clark lists FAA TSO-C57b and TSO-C58a and states that the headset exceeds RTCA/DO-214. The product page and data sheet state no ETSO.
