H10-13H (P/N 40411G-02) is the helicopter configuration of the David Clark H10-13 headset. It is a passive over-the-head headset with around-the-ear domes, NRR 23 dB, an M-7A electret noise-cancelling microphone and a 5 ft extended coil cord with a single U-174/U plug. David Clark lists FAA TSO-C57b and TSO-C58a and states that the headset exceeds RTCA/DO-214.

  • Passive over-the-head headset with around-the-ear domes and a certified Noise Reduction Rating of 23 dB.

  • The M-7A amplified electret microphone is mounted on a universal flex boom and runs on an 8–16 V DC supply, not polarity sensitive.

  • A 5 ft (1.5 m) extended coil cord ends in a single U-174/U plug, the helicopter version of the H10-13 cord.

  • Weight without the cord assembly is about 16.5 oz; the domes are ABS and the hardware is steel.

  • David Clark lists FAA TSO-C57b and TSO-C58a and states that the headset exceeds RTCA/DO-214.

  • Expanded double foam head pad, undercut Comfort Gel ear seals and a low-profile volume knob with detent settings.

Helicopter configuration

David Clark bases the H10-13H on the design of the H10-13.4 fixed-wing headset. The helicopter version differs in its cord: a 5 ft extended coil cord with a single plug.

The earcups are passive. Noise cancelling refers to the M-7A microphone, not to the earphones.

Noise reduction and attenuation

David Clark certifies a Noise Reduction Rating of 23 dB. Published attenuation by frequency: 16.6 dB at 125 Hz, 20.7 dB at 250 Hz, 27.4 dB at 500 Hz, 33.0 dB at 1 kHz, 30.5 dB at 2 kHz, 36.2 dB at 3 kHz, 38.1 dB at 4 kHz, 36.6 dB at 6 kHz and 36.6 dB at 8 kHz.

Contact pressure of the headband is about 0.6 lb (2.7 N).

Microphone and earphones

The M-7A is an amplified electret microphone. Impedance is 50 Ω ±20 %, sensitivity 400 mV ±6 dB into a 150 Ω load at 1 kHz for 114 dB SPL input, and response 300 Hz–3.5 kHz per RTCA DO-214. The DC supply is 8–16 V, not polarity sensitive, with a source resistance of 470 Ω.

The dynamic earphones have 150 Ω impedance (300 Ω each, wired in parallel) and a response of 200–5,500 Hz.

Cord and plug

The cord is a molded, coiled assembly about 5 ft (1.5 m) long. The connector type is U-174/U, a single plug.

The H10-13N, P/N 40411G-12, is terminated with a NATO-type plug instead.

Comfort and build

The headset has an expanded double foam head pad, undercut Comfort Gel ear seals and a reduced headband force. The volume control is a low-profile knob with detent settings.

The domes are ABS, the hardware is steel and the ear coupling is around-the-ear. Weight without the cord assembly is about 16.5 oz.

Configurations and approval

David Clark lists two helicopter configurations: H10-13H with a 5 ft extended coil cord and single plug (40411G-02) and H10-13N with a NATO-type plug (40411G-12). This product is the 40411G-02 version.

David Clark lists FAA TSO-C57b and TSO-C58a. The product page and data sheet state no ETSO.
