Start Pac 53105M Portable Aircraft Power Supply

Start Pac 53105M is a portable 28.5 V DC power supply for maintenance work on 24/28 V aircraft. It delivers up to 105 A continuously from 180–240 V AC single-phase mains and powers inverters, avionics and GPS programming without drawing on the aircraft battery. The unit weighs 5.4 kg and has an attached 2.4 m aircraft cable.

  • Delivers up to 105 A continuously at 28.5 V DC, with no duty cycle.

  • Runs on 180–240 V AC single-phase mains and draws 14 A at 220 V AC at full output.

  • Weighs 5.4 kg including the aircraft cables and measures 400 × 115 × 133 mm.

  • Forced-air cooling plus over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature protection.

  • Powers inverters, avionics and GPS programming while bypassing the aircraft battery.

  • Not designed for engine starting or for battery charging.

Attached cable and connector

Attached cable and connector

The 53105M has an 8 ft (2.4 m) aircraft cable permanently attached. Start Pac lists a red 3-pin aircraft connector as a spare part for this model.

Output and mains supply

The output is set to 28.5 V DC, the voltage of an aircraft running under power, and is rated for up to 105 A continuous current with no duty cycle.

The input is 180–240 V AC, single phase. At full DC output the unit draws 14 A at 220 V AC.

Use in maintenance

Start Pac designed the unit to power inverters, avionics, GPS programming and similar functions during maintenance. The aircraft battery is bypassed and spared unnecessary wear, so it stays available for engine starting.

Cabin air conditioning systems are high-draw loads and usually need at least 175 A.

Case and portability

The case is aluminium with a low-VOC powder coat. Start Pac describes the unit as small and light: it weighs 5.4 kg including the aircraft cables and measures 400 × 115 × 133 mm.
