AN310 is a plain castellated airframe nut to the Air Force-Navy aeronautical standard AN310 rev. 10 (1991). The nut is made of steel with a UNF-3B thread and is cadmium plated to QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2. The castellation slots take a cotter pin.
AN310-3, AN310-4 and AN310-5 replace the cancelled AN355 nuts of the same dash number, not the reverse. AN310 has been inactive for new design since 1998 and was superseded by NASM310 with identical part numbers. The designation defines the nut by standard rather than by manufacturer. The right version depends on the bolt thread.
