Aspen ACU2 is the analog converter unit for Aspen Evolution EFD1000 displays, supplied with the ACU2 installation kit 903-00003-002 (D-sub connectors, EMI backshells and crimp sockets). It converts analog VHF NAV, GPS and autopilot interfaces into digital data for the display and sends heading and course to the autopilot. The remote-mounted unit measures 146 × 57 × 109 mm, weighs 0.50 kg, runs on 11–32 V DC and needs no cooling.
Compared with the original ACU, the ACU2 adds a heading synchro output to ARINC 407 with 26 V AC reference and high-speed ARINC 429 output; it has 2 ARINC 429 inputs, 3 outputs and RS-422 ports. P/N 925-00302-001 contains ACU2 910-00004-101 with low-level NAV and glide slope flags; 925-00302-002 contains 910-00004-102 with flag discretes for autopilots that need a superflag input. The ACU2 is certified as a component of the EFD1000 E5 system and is installed under approved data for the aircraft type with a release to service. Fit depends on the display, autopilot and navigators installed.
