How long are the elements of the CI-158C, and what does the base need?

The antenna is 17 5/8 in (448 mm) high, and the two stainless-steel elements form a 90° V spanning up to 35.63 in (905 mm). The round base is 2.50 in (63.5 mm) in diameter and fastens with two screws through 0.201 in (5.1 mm) holes 1.875 in (47.6 mm) apart, with a 0.575 in (14.6 mm) hole for the BNC connector. It weighs 0.35 lb (0.16 kg).

Can the two detachable elements of the CI-158C be mounted separately?

No. The CI-158C is one V-dipole: both elements attach to the common base with its integral ferrite balun, and the whole antenna mounts on top of the vertical stabilizer. Comant gives the smaller shipping and storage carton as the reason the elements are detachable. The antenna is not approved for helicopter installations.
