David Clark DC JET-X is a lightweight on-ear ANR headset for commercial pilots, with David Clark electronic noise cancelling and DSP audio. David Clark quotes 4.5 oz (128 g) for the polymer headband and adjustable suspension. The headset has an M-5B electret noise-cancelling microphone on a flex boom, leatherette ear seals and a vented Outlast head pad; it is approved to TSO-C139a and ETSO-C139a.
A compact control module with an on/off button runs the ANR on one AA battery for up to 50 hours and has a USB-C port that can power the headset through a separately sold cable. With a flat battery or the module off, the microphone and earphones keep working on the aircraft intercom. Enhanced auto shutoff turns the headset off 5 minutes after the audio panel is switched off or the headset is unplugged.
P/N 43107G-01 has standard aviation dual plugs. P/N 43107G-02 has a 5-pin XLR plug and takes ANR power from the aircraft where the jack supplies power on pin 5, which not every XLR installation does; the AA battery then serves only without pin-5 power or when unplugged. David Clark gives a 3-year warranty. Fit depends on the P/N or the headset jack type in the aircraft.
