Garmin GA 58 is the directional antenna for the Garmin GTS 8XX traffic systems. Two versions are available: 010-10720-00 with QMA connectors and 010-10720-02 with TNC connectors. Garmin lists the GA 58 for the GTS 800 and GTS 825 traffic advisory systems (TAS) and the GTS 855 TCAS I, and as an optional antenna for the GTS 8000 TCAS II system with dual GTX 3000 transponders.
Garmin configurations use one GA 58, one GA 58 with a monopole antenna, or two GA 58 antennas on the top and bottom of the fuselage. During GTS 8XX configuration the GA 58 is selected as the top or bottom antenna and the cable loss (0.2–4.0 dB) is entered. Coaxial cables, connector kits and terminations are ordered separately.
Installation on a certified aircraft follows the approved data for the traffic system and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service; a US AML STC is not automatic EASA approval. Fit depends on the P/N (QMA or TNC), the traffic system and the aircraft type.
