Garmin GMC 305 is a panel-mounted mode controller for the GFC 500X autopilot and flight director in G3X avionics for non-type-certificated aircraft. Its buttons give dedicated control of the autopilot and flight director modes, and basic autopilot modes remain available from the GMC 305 even when all GDU displays are unpowered.

The unit connects by RS-232 to a GDU 37X or GDU 4XX display; a second RS-232 channel goes to the GSA 28 roll servo for reversionary autopilot operation. It runs on 14 V or 28 V and draws 0.050 A at 14 V. Garmin builds 010-01169-00 without and 010-01169-20 with a yaw damper (YD) button. Unit P/N 011-03226-00 is the version without YD and is offered as a serviceable/overhauled unit.

The GMC 305 mounts flush in the instrument panel with four #6-32 cap screws and measures 158.8 × 47.0 × 83.8 mm. Installation kit 010-12034-00 with connector and mounting hardware is not included, and the wiring harness is made during installation. Fit depends on the P/N, the GDU display model and the autopilot servos.
