Garmin GNS 530W is a panel-mounted GPS/NAV/COM navigator with a 5-inch color display (320 × 234 pixels) in a 6.25 × 4.58 in bezel. It combines a 15-channel SBAS GPS to TSO-C146a for IFR en route, terminal and approach operations including LPV, a VHF COM with 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz channel spacing, and VOR, localizer and glideslope receivers. Navigation and terrain databases load from two front data cards.
The GNS 530W transmits at least 10 W; the GNS 530AW is the 28 V model with a 16 W COM transmitter. ARINC 429 and RS-232 interfaces connect autopilots, CDI/HSI indicators, EFIS, air data and AHRS. The main connector accepts 10–33.2 V DC. Garmin lists 011-01064-00 (GNS 530W, black bezel), 011-01064-40 (GNS 530W, WAAS upgrade of a non-WAAS unit), 011-01064-45 (GNS 530W, 28 V DC upgrade unit) and 011-01066-00 (GNS 530AW, black bezel).
Serviceable/overhauled units are offered as GNS 530W 011-01064-00 and 011-01064-45; repair covers 011-01064-00, 011-01064-40 and GNS 530AW 011-01066-00. EASA accepts the GPS, COM and NAV functions of GNS units under CS-STAN without an autopilot connection. An installation beyond these limits needs an approved modification, such as an EASA STC, and a Certificate of Release to Service; the US AML STC SA01933LA is not EASA approval. Fit depends on the P/N and aircraft type; a repair quote needs the P/N and S/N.
