Garmin GTN 635 is a panel-mounted GPS/COM navigator with a 4.9-inch touchscreen (600 × 266 pixels) in a 6.25 × 2.65 in bezel. Its 15-channel SBAS GPS to TSO-C146c can be approved for IFR en route, terminal, oceanic, non-precision and precision approach operations, including LPV approaches. The VHF COM tunes 118.000–136.992 MHz with 8.33/25 kHz channel spacing and transmits 10 W, or 16 W with an enablement card. The GTN 635 has no VOR/ILS receivers; the GTN 650 adds them.

The display shows the flight plan with departures, arrivals, approaches and holds, and a moving map with terrain and, from connected equipment, traffic and weather. Class A or B TAWS alerting is optional. ARINC 429, RS-232 and HSDB interfaces connect autopilots, flight displays, transponders, traffic and weather systems; course deviation and roll steering outputs serve Garmin and select third-party autopilots.

This item is the repair of a customer GTN 635 unit, P/N 011-02255-00 (black bezel). After a repaired unit is installed, the correct software is loaded and the configuration is set; enabled options do not need to be enabled again when the configuration module stayed in the aircraft. A new GTN installation is not eligible as an EASA Standard Change and needs an approved modification for the type and a Certificate of Release to Service.
