RC Allen RCA15AK is a 3-inch electric directional gyro for 14 V DC aircraft, made by Kelly Manufacturing Company. A brushless AC gyro motor, supplied through a built-in inverter from the aircraft DC bus, drives a direct-reading 360° heading dial; rotor run-up takes 3 minutes. Starting current is 2.4 A and running current 1.21 A maximum at 14 V DC, and a power failure flag comes into view when the supply voltage is too low for accurate indication.

RCA15AK-1 is internally lighted and RCA15AK-2 is unlighted; both have a standard dial with a dial set knob. RCA15AK-17 adds a heading bug with its own set knob. RCA15AK-16 has the heading bug and a 400 Hz, 5K autopilot heading output on a separate autopilot connector (Amphenol 126-223 or Winchester M5SH9C). The heading bug and autopilot versions are unlighted and weigh 3.0 lb instead of 2.3 lb.

All versions fit the standard 3⅛-inch panel cut-out and are secured with 6-32 screws supplied by the installer; the mating connector is MS3116E8-4S. The instrument meets TSO-C5c. Kelly has discontinued the RCA15 series and names the RCA1510 digital heading indicator as its replacement. In an EASA aircraft, the installation follows approved data for the type and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the version, the aircraft type and, for RCA15AK-16, the installed autopilot.
