Sensata Klixon 7271-8 is a single-phase thermal aircraft circuit breaker series with a pushbutton actuator and neck mounting, trip-free, qualified to MIL-C-5809 and rated for 120 V AC 400 Hz or 30 V DC systems. Sensata offers ratings from 3 to 35 A; variant 7271-8-30 is the 30 A breaker, with trip times at 25 °C of 10–70 s at 200 %, 0.75–7 s at 400 % and 0.25–2.5 s at 600 % of rating. The button pops out when the breaker trips.
A snap-acting Klixon disc element holds its calibration through the service life; the ultimate trip current is 105–145 % of rating at 25 °C. Sensata states 10 g vibration from 50 to 500 Hz, 30 g shock, 5,000 cycles at 120 V AC 400 Hz or 30 V DC inductive load and a maximum weight of 39 g. A certified aircraft needs the breaker installed to approved data and a Certificate of Release to Service. The right version depends on the amperage rating.
