Acron Aviation 9230-15003-01 Battery Pack for ESI-500

9230-15003-01 is the battery pack for the Acron Aviation ESI-500 electronic standby instrument. On loss of aircraft power, the internal lithium-ion pack powers the ESI-500 and a connected MAG-500 magnetometer without interruption, for a minimum of one hour when properly maintained and charged. In an EASA aircraft, replacement is released with a Certificate of Release to Service.

Battery pack for the ESI-500

9230-15003-01 is the battery pack of the Acron Aviation ESI-500 electronic standby instrument, which was marketed earlier under the L3Harris name. The unit P/N of the ESI-500 is 9200-15000-0101.

The ESI-500 comes standard with airspeed, altitude, attitude, slip/skid and vertical speed, plus the back-up battery.

Backup operation

Upon loss of power, the internal lithium-ion pack automatically powers the unit and the magnetometer without interruption. The backup battery is designed for a minimum of one hour of uninterrupted operation under typical conditions, from −20 °C to +60 °C ambient, when properly maintained and charged.

The battery system includes internal monitoring and safety circuits against overcharging, deep discharge and thermal extremes.

The ESI-500 around the pack

The ESI-500 is built into a 3-inch round case that fits existing instrument panel cutouts. It accepts standard ARINC 429 inputs and runs from 14 or 28 V DC.

Options add a navigation display and Synthetic Vision (terrain and obstacles). Magnetic heading is available with the compact MAG-500 magnetometer, which the pack also powers on loss of aircraft power.

Replacement and certification path

In an EASA-registered aircraft, replacing the pack is released with a Certificate of Release to Service. For the ESI-500 itself, Acron Aviation lists FAA TSOs and EASA acceptance through ETSO equivalency under TIP Rev. 5.

The installation basis Acron names for the instrument is an AML STC for Part 23 airplanes and Part 27 helicopters, which is a US basis and not an EU approval. A quote needs the ESI-500 serial number and the quantity.
