Mid-Continent B-10-1 is a 500 Ω resistance temperature detector (RTD) probe for outside air temperature (OAT). Its resistance curve follows IEC 60751 Class B. The internal connections are hermetically potted and sealed against moisture and contamination, and the probe is rated from −50 to +155 °C.
The probe body is 2.07 in (53 mm) long and mounts in a 5/16 in hole through the aircraft skin with an aluminum sealing washer and a tapered 5/16-32 stainless steel nut (9/16 in hex). The 13 in (330 mm) lead ends in a 6-pin TE Deutsch 369 series connector; the -1 configuration includes the mating socket connector kit (9019597-1). The 22 AWG harness to the indicator is supplied by the installer.
Mid-Continent lists the B-10-1 as the OAT probe for the CHRONOS CH93 Type 2 digital clocks (6420093-0, -3, -4 and -5), which display OAT in °C or °F. The CH93 takes one RTD probe, one current-sense probe, or one of each; Mid-Continent asks to be contacted before more than one probe is connected to a CHRONOS clock. A certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service after installation. Fit depends on the indicator model and the aircraft type.
