Start Pac PRO is a portable 28 V lithium-ion starting unit for emergency starts of piston engines and small to medium turbine engines. It delivers 1800 A peak current with a capacity of 14 Ah (10 A rate), weighs 6.3 kg and measures 34.9 × 17.8 × 13.3 cm. The unit is for engine starting only and is not designed for battery charging.
The PRO is sized to be carried on board and used in the field, and serves as a light-duty jump starter at the home base. Start Pac states its use on helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and military UAVs. The external float-type charger recharges the unit from 110–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz in 30 minutes to 3 hours; the charger input is specified on order. On aircraft that allow it, the aircraft generator can recharge the unit without an AC source.
The set includes an aircraft cable adapter kit that prevents torque on the aircraft receptacle, the external charger and a carrying bag. Lithium-ion cells perform better warm, so the unit should not be left to cold-soak before a start. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the mains voltage for charging.
