Aerox PrO2-4 is a refillable personal emergency oxygen system for one user with a 4 cu ft aluminium cylinder and one mask. It is kept within reach as a backup if the main oxygen supply fails or runs out, or if the cabin depressurises unexpectedly. The flow is set for a cabin altitude of 25,000 ft; at that rate the system supplies oxygen for approximately 35 minutes, which gives time to descend to an altitude where normal breathing is possible.
Pulling the mask from the system pulls a cable that starts the oxygen flow, and the user then puts the mask on. The standard mask is an economy rebreather mask; Aerox offers an upgrade to a TSO-C103 mask or a TSO-C64 type mask on request. The PrO2 range covers 2, 4 and 6 cu ft cylinders, with single-user and dual-user versions for 4 and 6 cu ft; PrO2-4 is the single-user 4 cu ft version.
The DOT 3AL cylinder has no life limit and needs recertification every five years. The system is refilled after each use. The right version depends on whether a mask upgrade is required.
