Sensor Systems S67-1575-96 L1/L2 GPS Antenna

Sensor Systems S67-1575-96 is a dual-band active GPS antenna for L1 (1575.42 MHz) and L2 (1227.6 MHz). A low-noise amplifier with 40 ± 4 dB gain sits under the radome and is powered through the coax with 4–24 V DC at up to 75 mA. The antenna has a TNC female connector, weighs 198 g and operates up to 70,000 ft.

  • Dual-band active GPS antenna for L1 at 1575.42 MHz and L2 at 1227.6 MHz.

  • Low-noise amplifier with 40 ± 4 dB gain, powered through the coax with 4–24 V DC at 75 mA maximum.

  • Right-hand circular polarization, 50 Ω impedance and VSWR of 2.0:1 maximum.

  • Additional filtering rejects out-of-band signals and reduces the risk of saturation by non-GPS transmitters.

  • Weighs 198 g (7 oz), Ø 89 mm by 18 mm high, with a TNC female RF connector.

  • Operating temperature from −62 to +95 °C and altitude from −1,500 to 70,000 ft.

Radome and markings

Radome and markings

The round white radome has four fastener holes and is marked GPS L1/L2 and DO NOT PAINT. The housing is 6061-T6 aluminium alloy and thermoset plastic with a Skydrol-resistant enamel finish, 89 mm in diameter and 18 mm high.

Amplifier and supply through the coax

The amplifier is integrated under the radome and has a gain of 40 ± 4 dB. DC bias is applied through the coax connector at 4 to 24 V DC, with a maximum current of 75 mA.

Gain, polarization and out-of-band rejection

Antenna gain is −1.0 dBic from 0 to 75° and −7.5 dBic at the horizon. Polarization is right-hand circular with an axial ratio of 3.0 dB maximum at zenith. Out-of-band rejection is more than 6 dB at 1177 MHz, 10 dB at 1277 MHz, 20 dB at 1525 MHz and 25 dB at 1625 MHz.

Standards and installation

Sensor Systems lists FAA TSO-C129, DO-160C, MIL-E-5400, MIL-STD-810 and AMS-C-5541 for the antenna. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service.

Fit depends on the GPS receiver model and the aircraft type.
