UMA 5-300-30 is a 3⅛ in (79 mm) non-sensitive altimeter with a 0–5,500 ft range and a barometric setting window in inches of mercury (inHg). The single pointer has markings every 100 ft. The instrument weighs 10.6 oz (about 300 g), and the case is Valox 420 plastic.
The 3⅛ in case is not sealed, so UMA states that this altimeter must not be connected to the static line; a static leak would result. The center port stays unconnected, and UMA requires no connection except in a pressurized cabin or an open cockpit with moving air behind the panel. The knob sets the window to the barometric pressure of the nearest airport; the reading should then match field elevation within ±100 ft. The bezel is 3.25 in square with three mounting holes on a 3.5 in bolt circle, and the instrument is 3.34 in long including the knob. UMA lists the other inHg versions as 5-300-10 (0–20,000 ft) and 5-300-20 (0–10,000 ft).
UMA lists the 5-300-30 in its non-TSO range of flight instruments for experimental aircraft; the instrument has no TSO authorization. UMA publishes a panel cut-out drawing for the 3⅛ in altimeter. Fit depends on the aircraft type.
